Child Safe at St Thomas

Our School - Child Safety

At St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Primary School, child protection is very important to us and we acknowledge and understand that child safety is the responsibility of every person and is an integral aspect of student wellbeing. We aim to work collaboratively with parents, students and other community members to ensure a safe school environment.

Our commitment to the protection of students is based in our belief that each person is made in the image of God and our ethos is to provide a safe and supportive environment. All students have the right to expect that the school will always act to protect them from any kind of harm.

Parents are asked to read, understand and act to keep children safe. Our parent Code of Conduct outlines what is expected of all parents.

Our Students and Staff are also asked to work always to meet our school wide expectations of Safety, Respect and Learning. Our student and staff Code of Conduct outline expectations within our school.

We have developed a child friendly version of the Code of Conduct for students so they can understand what behaviours are expected of them and each other.

Every visitor/contractor to our school is inducted to the site, to our child safe expectations, to know how to report any concerns or seek help. Each adult on site will have a current Working With Children Check which. The code of conduct for visitors/contractos outlines the expectations for these adults.
