Message - Deputy Principal: Inclusive Education
To all our family and friends of St Thomas the Apostle,
As we delve into the work of Term 2, we continue to commit to making our school a place where safety, respect and learning are focused with a critically important lens.
As a staff we have been working in our whole school approach to positive behaviour support developing a consequences framework. This piece sits alongside our school wide expectations where staff and students have a clear and consistent model on which to emulate their behaviour on.
We are currently aligning the framework across the school with key stages that are age appropriate in words and visuals so all students and staff have clarity. Below you will note in draft form an example from our Foundation Team of the school wide expectations and natural and logical consequences. This is a work in progress but gives you an example of age appropriate words and visuals and how these might be presented.
I have also been working with a student voice group of approximately 20 students representing all year levels where we have explored how we can keep our school safe and what would be natural and logical consequences when students show safety and when they do not.
This group of students have led some fantastic and informative discussion that has informed the work of staff to ensure we are catering for the needs of our students, who are the centre of everything we do here at school.
Once we have finalised our consequences framework, we will share it with our school community so everybody knows the approach we take when the preferred behaviour is not evident.
Kindest regards,
Jen Gulavin

School Start times
Dear parents
Kate
Early Pick Up
Dear Families,
Occasionally, there are times when you need to pick up your child early from school. It might be an appointment or due to an emergency, but these things happen.
To help you in these situations and to minimise the impact on school logistics, we ask that you adhere to a window of time that is most convenient for everyone.
We request that if you are picking up your child early, to do so:
[before the lunch break -1:45pm] or [after the lunch break- 2:30pm] and before 3:00pm
Avoiding the lunch break and before 3pm will be quicker for you, especially when time is of the essence. We hope this can ease the task of getting to an appointment or dealing with an emergency.
Thank you for your consideration.
We would like to wish all our Mothers, Grandmothers , Aunties and Special Ladies
a Very Happy Mother' Day
Mother's Day Prayer
Lord Jesus, you chose to put yourself - tiny, needy and helpless - into the nurturing care of your loving mother Mary.
We, too, honour our mothers and mother figures on this day - those who have loved us into life. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as mothers and nurturers.
We pray, too, for children who have not known their mothers and for mothers who have lost their children; may you give them courage and strength in their pain and loss.
May we all be inspired by the love, faith and selfless commitment of our mothers, grandmothers and all who have been a "mother" to us..
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you....Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
