Dear Families,
We are pleased to see that the Spring weather and longer days are brightening our lives. The flowers blooming and birds nesting are reminders of the power of new life. We can harness this in our own lives - by creating and nurturing new goals and habits, by trying a new sport or activity and by repairing any harm in relationships by starting over.
Our children have returned energetic, ready and excited about the final term of the year. They are well established in their learning behaviours and are making the most of opportunities offered in the classroom. This term many year levels have exciting excursions or incursions happening. These extra-curricular events allow children to explore some different experiences and try new things.
We are finalising a date for our Christmas carols event where communities will serenade us with a carol or two. The FOST team are working hard to engage with families to build connections and learn what would make a school family partnership stronger.
We look forward to a great term.
Blessings
Kate
Congrats - The Gift that just keeps giving!
During the holidays we had many of our year 4 students, as well as some year 5 and 6 students too, that celebrated their First Holy Communion. This allows them to participate more fully in the Mass, as they are able to receive the host (the bread) that is Jesus’ gift of himself. A big thank you to the teachers from the Bethany Community who came to support these Masses over these weekends too.
It’s an extremely difficult concept to comprehend. Catholics believe that the transubstantiation that occurs when the priest blesses the bread, that we are actually consuming Jesus’ body. This is the gift of himself. Our young people who have celebrated this sacrament recently can now receive Jesus in this way at Mass.
We’re On A Mission! Socktober
Now that we are in the month of October, our school is focusing on how we can respond to Jesus’ mission call. Mission Month in the church calendar is October, and one of the great ways schools can get involved is to participate in Socktober.
Later this month, we will be having some fun with the soccer balls we make. This is why it is still important to donate old t-shirts, socks, bubble wrap and plastic bags. Each community will be making a soccer ball out of these materials, in other words, walking in the shoes of the poor.
Check out the Socktober website that provides a lot of detail about this Catholic Mission initiative. But more importantly, check out the donation portal so that families and friends of St Thomas the Apostle PS can donate money to the cause.

Our slogan is ‘Kick Goals for Good 2022’ and this year the focus is Ethiopia. Last year the focus was on Thailand and we did really well in raising some money for this, so we are hoping this year will be a success too!
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. (Mark 16:15)
Scripture Passage
Base your drawing/painting design on this scripture passage:
In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see - I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the City of David a Saviour who is the messiah, the Lord.”
(Luke 2:8-12)
